How Everton Have Lined Up Recently
Manager Sean Dyche has kept a relatively steady lineup over the last couple of fixtures. In front of Jordan Pickford’s goal has been James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite in the centre of defence. Vitaliy Mykolenko has made the left flank his own, missing only five Premier League games this season. Ben Godfrey, naturally a centre-back, has been deployed on the right side of defence despite the availability of Nathan Patterson.
Idrissa Gana Gueye and James Garner have been the go-to duo for the midfield pivot. Ahead of them, Abdoulaye Doucoure has reclaimed his position as the second striker after returning from a hamstring injury which saw him miss seven Premier League games.
Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison started the last game on the wings, with Ashley Young rotating into the wide midfielder position. Calvert-Lewin has started every league game in attack when he has been available despite scoring just three goals this season.
Everton’s Recent Form and Tactics
The Toffees have failed to win in their previous nine premier league games. But managing three draws in their last four has helped them climb out of the relegation zone. The club is now five points clear due to a successful appeal against their ten-point deduction earlier in the season. On the other side, the Hammers were also on a slide before a 4-2 to lowly Sheffield United, the victory keeping them in the race for a European spot.

Everton have lined up at 4-2-3-1 for a large part of their game this season. This formation often turns to a 4-4-2 when in defence. The formation is effective when defending, with the Blues now ranking fourth for goals conceded. Going forward has been the issue for the side, with their last open-play goal coming against Manchester City on December 27.
Everton’s Injuries to Consider
Heading into the weekend, Dyche could face selection issues for the midfield. Both Amadou Onana and Gueye have sustained injuries throughout the week. But the team is hopeful that the pair will be available come Saturday. Youssef Chermiti will be unavailable off the bench due to picking up a red card in the U21.
