A Potential Alternative to Ivan Toney?
Arteta’s side have been in a rich scoring form since the turn of the year, scoring 25 goals in only six Premier League matches in 2024, including three against Liverpool and four against Newcastle United. However, the lack of a proper goalscoring forward is something that the North Londoners are looking to fix.
Last season’s signing Gabriel Jesus has missed several games due to a recurring knee injury while Eddie Nketiah has failed to establish his spot as a reliable striking option. As a result, a number of forwards from other clubs have been linked with the Gunners.

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta and Arsenal hierarchy are big fans of Brentford’s talisman Ivan Toney. However, the club were unable to make a big money move for the Englishman in January thanks to Financial Fair Play restrictions.
Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as another candidate for the Arsenal No.9 role. The Swedish striker who was acquired by the Portuguese giants from Championship side Coventry City, has been in incredible form for the side scoring 17 goals in 21 league appearances this season. Consequently, the 25-year-old is leading the race for the Primeira Liga Golden Boot.
Chelsea Also Interested in Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal are not the only ones showing interest in the talented striker. Their local rivals, Chelsea, are also keen on adding him to their ranks to fix their own issues in front of goal. The Portuguese side were reportedly demanding a whopping fee of £87 million for the Swedish international in January and hence a deal could not be completed.
