Top Source Explains ‘Real News’ Will Be When Tottenham Make Approach For ‘Priceless’ Midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup Vs Arsenal for September 15

Tottenham Hotspur had a pretty eventful 2024 January transfer window in which they were able to sign defender Radu Dragusin and forward Timo Werner on loan.  However, they were unable to buy rumoured target Conor Gallagher and there is now an interesting update on their future pursuit of the Englishman.

Tottenham Remain Admirers Of Conor Gallagher

What Needs To Happen For Chelsea To Sell Gallagher?

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that he is noticing stories of Gallager’s future all over the media all the time, but states that he honestly does not have any update to report about him at this moment in time. This comes after Chelsea were able to keep their midfielder beyond the winter window when he started getting linked to a potential move to Tottenham.

The journalist further adds that the Lilywhites remain admirers of the energetic midfielder and that Ange Postecoglou is a big fan, but that the “real news” will be if and when Spurs end up making an official approach for his signing from their rival club, something which has not happened so far. Romano indicates that Chelsea still have enough time to make Gallagher sign a new contract before June or July, but that all parties will be considering a summer transfer if that happens and that could give Tottenham an incentive to try and sign him.

What Could Conor Gallagher Bring To Tottenham?

Spurs decided to abandon their search for a new midfielder after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opted to stay at the club for at least the end of this season, meaning that there was enough cover of options in the midfield. However, with Postecoglou reportedly being a fan of Conor Gallagher, he has probably already envisioned how the England international can improve his squad.

Gallagher has been a proactive figure for Chelsea this season, being praised as “priceless” by Mauricio Pochettino and has nine goal contributions (three goals, six assists) in 33 appearances for his club this season. He has played in multiple roles, be it as a number eight, number ten or even as a defensive midfielder. The 24-year-old’s versatility and hard-working style is probably a reason why Postecoglou wants him, knowing he can fit with his high-octane playing style, bringing more creativity and drive to his midfield. However, it remains to be seen if Spurs can actually get this deal done to strengthen their midfield line next season.
