Nottingham Forest’s top scorer this season, Chris Wood, looks set to miss an extended period of time, according to John Percy of The Telegraph. The New Zealand international could now miss at least eight Premier League games.
Chris Wood Injured for up to Eight Weeks
Bad news for #nffc. Leading scorer Chris Wood is set to miss up to 7/8 weeks with a hamstring injury (which could be a possible 8 Premier League matches). Wood injury could see Forest consider whether Divock Origi now completes his season-long loan

Nottingham Forest Light in Attack
Wood’s injury leaves Forest short of attacking options. Taiwo Awoniyi has only recently returned from a groin injury, playing 90 minutes against AFC Bournemouth. The Nigerian striker has been injury-prone since joining the Reds, so his minutes will have to be managed carefully.
Rodrigo Ribeiro joined on loan from Sporting CP on deadline day. The 18-year-old striker is another option for Nuno Espirito Santo, given the absence of Wood.

Divock Origi has struggled for minutes during his loan spell at Forest. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Origi is in talks to move to Los Angeles FC, however, the extent of Wood’s injury may force Forest to reassess. Percy also said: “Wood injury could see Forest consider whether Divock Origi now completes his season-long loan.”

Nuno acknowledged Wood’s injury in his press conference ahead of the FA Cup clash against Bristol City on Wednesday, February 7. He said: “He (Wood) is out. He is going to be out for some time. Hopefully not a long time, but let’s see. We are frustrated but this happens.”
If Wood is out for eight Premier League matches, then the “brilliant” striker’s next game could be against Tottenham Hotspur away on April 4.
