However, Fabrizio Romano reports that the Gunners are already looking towards the future, with ambitions of strengthening the team in the summer. Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi is a name that is reportedly on their transfer wishlist.

Martin Zubimendi Is on Arsenal’s List for the Summer

The transfer insider reports that Mikel Arteta’s side are keen on adding the Spanish international to their ranks in the summer. He adds that Zubimendi is on the list of players being chased by the club. However, they are not alone in this pursuit.

La Liga giants Barcelona and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in the midfielder for the summer.

According to Romano, while there are no discussions ongoing in February or March between the clubs and the representatives of the player, it is a situation to monitor once the season concludes. The midfielder is reportedly said to have a £52 million release clause which can be activated later this year.

He has also been hailed as the “next Sergio Busquets” thanks to his similar style of play to the legendary Spanish midfielder.

Player Fully Focussed on Real Sociedad

Despite the swirling rumours around his potential departure from the club, Martin Zubimendi has reaffirmed his love for La Real and his focus on performing well in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League with the Spanish side.

Romano says: “Zubimendi only wants to focus on Real Sociedad and he loves his club. He is fully focused on La Liga and the Champions League, with no distraction at all.”
