What would he bring to Manchester United?

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, serial French champions PSG are looking for solutions to the young forward’s situation before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Ekitike has played just eight minutes of Ligue 1 football for Luis Enrique’s side this season, finding himself behind Kylian Mbappé, Randal Kolo Muani, and Goncalo Ramos in the striking pecking order.

The striker first burst onto the scene with the historically prestigious French outfit Reims in the 2019/20 season, scoring five goals in 11 games and a total of 11 goals in 28 games to (perhaps prematurely) earn the title of wonderkid and be linked with a move to nouveau riche Newcastle United in the summer of 2022. As it was, the young Frenchman chose to stay in his home country and sign for Les Parisiens, then managed by compatriot Christophe Galtier.

Potential Cover In A Problem Position

A tall, quick forward with excellent movement and aerial presence, Ekitike has struggled to impose himself in a star-studded PSG outfit, competing with world-class performers Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Neymar in his first season and then Mbappé, Kolo Muani and Ramos now, just four goals and four assists in 33 appearances for the French giants belying his status as a hot prospect in European football.

Despite his struggles in what must be acknowledged as a dysfunctional institution before the arrival of Luis Enrique, the potential has never been in doubt. With Erik ten Hag’s side toiling in front of goal and seemingly resigned to not finding a permanent solution to their goalscoring woes, Ekitike could provide cover for Rasmus Hojlund and the injured Anthony Martial going into the second half of the campaign.
