How Chelsea Women Have Lined Up Recently

Hannah Hampton has taken over the goalkeeping duties, starting the last four consecutive games. The back four sees either Jess Carter, Kadeisha Buchanan, or Nathalie Björn in the centre with Niamh Charles on the left and Ashley Lawrence competing against Ève Périsset for minuts on the right.

The midfield pivot has seen Melanie Leupolz starting next to Erin Cutbert with Sophie Ingle breaking in as a rotation option. Fran Kirby and Lauren James trade the number 10 spot with Guro Reiten and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd operating on the wings.

Mia Fishel has started some games as the striker with James or Kirby operating as a false nine at other times.

Chelsea Women Recent Form and Tactics

Emma Hayes has settled on a 4-2-3-1 setup for her team and it has been reliable in getting results. They have won their last six consecutive outings and haven’t lost in their last seven. A 4-1 defeat to Arsenal still marks their only defeat in the entire campaign to date.

They have been free flowing in attack with 17 goals to their name in their winning run, in fact, they have only failed to score once all term. Defending is still something worth addressing as they have only kept one clean sheet in the Champions League so far.

Chelsea Women Absences to Consider

Two of the regular squad members have not travelled to Paris for this clash. Ann-Katrin Berger is injured, while Leupolz is being rested as revealed by Hayes. They will be joined by Sam Kerr and Aniek Nouwen on the sidelines, while there have been no updates given on Cat Macario or Millie Bright. New signings Bjorn and Mayra Ramirez are not registered for the squad and can not play.
