Manchester United have been extremely porous in terms of conceding goals in the first half of the 2023/24 season, having conceded nearly 50 in total already, but it appears that they want to fix their defensive structure for the long term by recruiting a centre-back and are interested in Juventus defender Gleison Bremer.

United Interested In Bremer Transfer
As per Sky Sports Italy’s Gianluca di Marzio, the Red Devils are strongly interested in the possibility of signing the Brazilian centre-back, who has been one of the best defenders in Serie A this season. He adds that there is still no indication of whether Juventus actually want to sell him, but the Premier League heavyweights are monitoring his situation.

The journalist further claims that United have been following his situation for a few months and “they will try” to make a move for him in the summer.
This comes after Fabrizio Romano had reported earlier in this campaign that Erik ten Hag’s side is in the hunt to sign a new ‘top’ centre-back in the summer, with injuries forcing the Dutch manager to consistently change his backline and even play a 36-year-old Jonny Evans, who joined last summer on a free transfer, on quite a few occasions.
What Are United’s Other Priorities For Summer Window?
The possible signing of a new centre-back is unlikely to be where the Red Devils draw the line on their quest to improve their squad in the summer transfer window. It has also been reported that United want to sign a new ‘elite striker’ that can help add more goals to the team which has scored the fewest goals for any side in the top half of the Premier League table after 21 games.

With that being said, there is a need for Ten Hag’s squad to have more reliable defenders to help Andre Onana keep more clean sheets. Bremer, who has been hailed as a “beast” in the past, has helped Juventus keep 13 clean sheets in 22 matches (in all competitions) this season and keep the second-best defensive record in Serie A this season.
