How Chelsea Women Have Lined Up Recently

Hannah Hampton has been given the nod in goals over Zećira Mušović in the most recent games. Kadeisha Buchanan and Jess Carter has been the centre-back pairing of choice, although new signing Nathalie Björn started against Manchester United, with Ashley Lawrence on the right and Niamh Charles on the left.

Erin Cuthbert has been a constant feature in the defensive midfield two with either Melanie Leupolz or Sophie Ingle partnering her since the mid-season break. Guro Reiten and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd have nailed down spots on the wing as Lauren James and Fran Kirby trade the number 10 role.

Mia Fishel has started as the striker in the absence of Sam Kerr with James occasionally featuring as a false nine. New signing Mayra Ramírez may not have clearance to play just yet having only joined officially on January 26 but should slot in as the striker in future.

Chelsea Women Recent Form and Tactics

Emma Hayes has been setting her team up in a 4-2-3-1 for most of the season to great results. They have only lost one match all season with draws against Manchester City Women, Real Madrid, and BK Häcken being the only other marks on their record.

Much like the men’s team, the defence being quite porous might prove to be an issue, Hayes’ side has only kept two clean sheets in their past 10 outings. Their goalscoring quality has shone through and minimised the impacts of this frailty but it could still come back to bite them.

Chelsea Women Injuries to Consider

There wasn’t any new updates from Hayes during her pre-match press conference meaning we can assume that Cat Macario, Aniek Nouwem, and Kerr are still unavailable. The manager is also unsure if her new signing is eligible to play as it still needs international clearance. There were no specifics given on Millie Bright other than this match is coming “too early” for her to make a return.

Chelsea Women Predicted Lineup

With some fixture congestion should come rotation which could lead to a new centre-back pairing and Lawrence getting a rest.
