Chelsea have struggled for goals in the Premier League this season and that has caused them to remain far away from the top-4 battle. They have recently been reported to have an interest in signing Al-Ittihad forward Karim Benzema on loan, but Fabrizio Romano has now given an update on those links.

Are Chelsea Pushing For Benzema Signing?
Romano has claimed that there is still no progress on their attempts or aspirations to sign a new striker in the January transfer window and that the club are still waiting to see what happens with Christopher Nkunku. They are still hopeful that the Frenchman can recover from his injury issues and operate in the forward line for them.
He also adds that despite the Blues’ links to strikers like Karim Benzema and Al Ahli man Roberto Firmino, it will not be easy for them or any other clubs to sign players on loan from the Saudi Pro League in the winter window. Romano further claims that “I’m told” there is nothing concrete or advanced in Chelsea’s aims to make a move for either of the two strikers and that Al-Ittihad’s new director will take care of the situation with Benzema, who has scored 432 career goals in domestic football.
Will Chelsea Be Signing Any Forward?
When it comes to assessing if Chelsea will, at all, sign a new forward in January or not, Romano writes in his Caught Offside column: “Still, Chelsea also feel it looks complicated to sign a striker this January – it’s not easy to find a striker for Chelsea’s level, so they are still exploring options and we’ll see what happens.”

Going by Romano’s reports, it appears that the London heavyweights aren’t in any active negotiations to sign any forward but are still looking into the wealth of options in the winter transfer market for players who can strengthen their squad. They are limited in the centre-forward area, with summer signing Nicolas Jackson struggling to maintain consistency and Armando Broja only having one goal this season.
