Tottenham Hotspur are fifth in the Premier League table and will be eager to strengthen their top four aspirations during this January transfer window. According to Florian Plettenberg, the club appears to be close to signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
Timo Werner Wants Tottenham Transfer
Timo Werner to Boost Tottenham Attack
In a deal that has seemingly come out of nowhere, RB Leipzig forward Werner is reportedly near to a Premier League return on a six-month loan with Tottenham Hotspur. This comes at a time when Spurs will be without their club captain, Son Heung-min, who is leading South Korea in the Asian Cup in Qatar.
Tactically, it makes sense, as Werner can play on the left and through the middle, Son’s two main positions. The German international offers a high-intensity pressing style as well as blistering pace, both of which fit perfectly into Ange Postecoglou’s system.

The reported six-month loan deal can be perfect for all parties involved, as things have not been great for Werner since his return to the club where he broke onto the international scene. He has scored two goals in eight Bundesliga appearances so far this season and looks like a fraction of the player he was during his first stint at Leipzig.
This opportunity in North London provides a chance to show that he does have what it takes to succeed in England. He will be joining a new-look Tottenham team and has all the attributes to succeed under Postecoglou. It is reported that the Australian manager wants the 27-year-old German, which will serve as a huge vote of confidence as Werner previously described as “underappreciated,” looks to claim a spot in the German national team for this year’s European Championship.

Tottenham Still in Talks with Genoa for Radu Dragusin
It has been a busy period for the North London club as they have welcomed back Sergio Regulion, Djed Spence, and Dane Scarlett from their loan spells early, as well as the likely sale of defender Eric Dier. The story that most Lilywhite supporters will be most keen on is the club’s pursuit of Genoa defender Radu Dragusin. According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are still in talks to get the 21-year-old on a permanent transfer and are confident in their ability to do so.

With Ben Davies injuring his hamstring in the 1-0 FA Cup victory over Burnley on January 5 – it is hoped that the Dragusin deal can get done sooner rather than later as Spurs face a trip to English giants Manchester United on Sunday, January 14.
All the departures and arrivals at the club signal that Postecoglou is shaping the squad in his image, and good days can be ahead for the Tottenham faithful.
