Manchester United have had an inconsistent start to the 2023/24 season and are almost nearing elimination from the UEFA Champions League group stages after only winning one of their five games. They have struggled for goals, due to which Erik ten Hag’s side have been linked with a move for Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Red Devils appreciate his quality and have indeed asked for information from the Bundesliga club over the possibility of a transfer in January. He adds that Newcastle United are also pursuing this situation and that clubs in Italy and Germany are considering a deal for him.
The journalist adds that what makes the signing of Guirassy so lucrative is his “super cheap” release clause of just over £15 million, making him a bargain deal for any club. This means that Manchester United can sign the Guinea striker for that amount by triggering his clause but will need to convince him to join them if they really want him.
Romano also claims that Guirassy is not the only possible transfer option considered by Ten Hag’s side for the upcoming winter window. He also adds that for that kind of fee, the Stuttgart strike can be an interesting option for the Red Devils.

Why The Craze Over Guirassy?
Even though he was a relatively unknown figure around Europe last season, Guirassy has developed a reputation thanks to his heroics for the Bundesliga side.
The 27-year-old has been competing for the Golden Boot race with Harry Kane. The Guinea striker has scored 15 goals in just 10 league appearances, showcasing his finishing ability. He could fit in well at Old Trafford in that no.9 role and be a suitable alternative for summer signing Rasmus Hojlund.
