Arsenal Really Appreciate the Player

Romano states that the Gunners consider Luiz to be their dream transfer in the winter transfer window, but it would be a difficult negotiation as the Villans are not keen on parting with the Brazilian. If a move does not materialize, they will be looking at other options around Europe and Zubimendi is a player whom they really appreciate.

However, he also adds that a January move for the 24-year-old is not possible due to his attachment to his current club.

The transfer insider goes on to say that Zubimendi is “in love” with La Real and that he values the history of the club whose ranks he came through. The midfielder has made 126 league appearances for the Basque club and has been a key fixture in their success in the current Champions League campaign.

Xavi and Barcelona Offer Stiff Competition

According to the journalist, the Barcelona manager is a big fan of Zubimendi and considers him to be the “next Sergio Busquets”. The club hierarchy has also identified the player as one for the future and is monitoring his development in the Spanish league. Real Sociedad, however, have placed a £60 million release clause on him and thus it would not be possible for either club to sign him in January due to financial constraints.
