Tomiyasu’s Rise and Impact at Arsenal
The “versatile” defender has been a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium since his move from Serie A club Bologna. He is capable of playing in central defence as well as on both the flanks. This has been of great help to Mikel Arteta who has used him as both a left-back and right-back in the absence of summer signing Jurrien Timber.

Furthermore, Tomiyasu’s skillset allows him to be an able replacement for both Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ben White when needed. He has quickly established himself as a key member of the North Londoners’ squad.
Bayern Munich’s Reported Interest
The transfer insider reports that the Bundesliga giants are linked with a move for the Japanese international. Noussair Mazraoui is currently the only recognized right-back at the club and the addition of Tomiyasu can be a great boost for the Germans in their quest for silverware this season. He could also be an option to replace Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae in central defence.
Despite the interest from outside, Arteta is keen on extending the defender’s contract. Arsenal’s lack of a natural right-back and the defensive injuries may force them to prevent any move for the 25-year-old at least until the end of the season.
With his current deal set to expire in 2025, it will be important for the Gunners to secure his long-term commitment to the club while warding off interest from potential suitors.
