The Lilywhites saw their defenders have a tough time against Chelsea, with Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie both being sent off. However, arguably the worst blow was dealt to summer signing Micky van de Ven after he seemingly sustained a nasty hamstring injury.

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has stated that he is now out of action for a lengthy spell after picking up a knock in the game. It is added that while the Dutchman will not require surgery, “estimates suggest” that the center-back could be out until January. However, the journalist states that Spurs are yet to decide on a firm timescale for his absence and have delayed the scans to identify the extent of the injury.

It is further added that Tottenham could be forced into dipping into the January transfer window to look for a new center-back. Law claims that Eric Dier is expected to deputize in Van de Ven’s absence, but the North London giants are expected to create a list of possible targets for the winter window.
Tottenham Suffering From Major Injury Crisis
Unfortunately for the Lilywhites, the injury to Van de Ven is not the only one plaguing their side. Apart from him, Ange Postecoglou also suffered a blow with Richarlison, who will have to undergo surgery for an injury. James Maddison also had to go off against Chelsea because of some issues and is doubtful for the upcoming match against Wolves.

Besides that, Ivan Perisic is a long-term absentee after sustaining a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for most of the season. With that being said, the absence of their influential star Van de Ven, who was hailed as “extraordinary” last season, will be badly felt for Spurs after he helped them keep four clean sheets in the first 11 Premier League games of the season.
