Liverpool travel to the South Coast to play Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, on November 1. The fixture takes place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup, meaning there will be no VAR checks, and no extra time or replays – the match will go straight to penalties after 90 minutes. This is the expected Liverpool predicted lineup vs Bournemouth.

Liverpool Predicted Lineup vs Bournemouth in Cup Clash

How Liverpool Have Lined-up Recently

Alisson Becker has of course started every Premier League match this season, being the league’s best goalkeeper for at least the past two seasons. However, the Brazilian has only featured in one of Liverpool’s three Europa League fixtures, and (more significantly) did not play against Leicester City in the EFL Cup. 24-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher has started in his absence and may continue to in cup competitions.

Three of Liverpool’s title-winning back-four remain staples in the side four years later: Andy Robertson at left-back, Virgil van Dijk at centre-half, and Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back. The trio have started every league match in which they have been fully fit and available. The second centre-back spot has not yet been nailed down, however, with Ibrahima Konaté, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and even youngster Jarell Quansah all managing starts.

Liverpool’s midfield was in desperate need of rebuild, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho both departing to Saudi Arabia in the summer. In recent weeks, the midfield has consisted of three new signings: Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Another midfield signing, Wataru Endo, has only managed one start in the league. However, the player described as a “monster” has featured in cup competitions and should be given a position in the starting lineup against Bournemouth.

Star player Mohamed Salah has of course been a regular starter, whilst Luis Diaz has finally solidified his spot with some excellent form this season. Fellow South American Darwin Nunez has also recently hit form, and can now be seen as Liverpool’s first-choice striker.

Liverpool Recent Form and Tactics

Liverpool have been on strong form recently, winning their last three very comfortably with an aggregate scoreline of 10-1.

At the centre of this form has been star signing Szoboszlai, who recently grabbed two assists in a man-of-the-match performance against Nottingham Forest. The Hungarian has been playing as a box-to-box midfielder, and has been essential to Liverpool’s attacking play.

Nunez has also been on-form, with two goals and two assists in his last four matches. Salah has developed great link-up play with the striker, setting the Uruguayan up with chances from the right wing three times last match.

Tactically, Jurgen Klopp has stuck to his favoured 4-3-3. However, with such great depth in the midfield and forward line, the German manager has rotated players in and out of the side – even trying individuals in different positions. For example, Harvey Elliott has started both as a left-winger and a central-midfielder. Expect to see Klopp utilise his squad depth at the Vitality Stadium.

Liverpool Injuries to Consider

Liverpool’s most significant injury currently is Robertson, who is out with a shoulder injury until the New Year. This means that Greek international Kostas Tsimikas will fill in for him. Whilst Tsimikas would be expected to start in the EFL Cup regardless, this means that the defender will be playing three times in seven days: Liverpool play Luton Town on November 5 and have no alternative available left-back.

In the midfield, the Spanish duo of Thiago Alcántara and Stefan Bajcetic both remain injured for the near future. Expect to see English youngsters Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones given starts, in a fixture that should not be too challenging for the pair.

Klopp’s front three suffers the hit of Diaz, who will likely be unavailable following a family crisis. Unfortunately for Bournemouth, Liverpool’s depth is ample. Should the preferred front three (Diaz-Nunez-Salah) be rested or unavailable, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota will feature. Jota has six goals for the Merseyside outfit this season, whilst Gakpo has three. The Reds will not be ill-equipped,
