Man Utd Predicted Lineup vs Crystal Palace
How Man Utd Lined up in EFL Cup Clash vs. Palace
There has been a feeling that almost every time Ten Hag’s side take to the pitch this campaign, there is yet another significant injury to derail them. It was expected that Roy Hodgson’s side may give them a scare in the Carabao Cup, but the changes made by United reaped the desired rewards, with youngsters Alejandro Garnacho, Hannibal Mejbri and Facundo Pellistri catching the eye. Mejbri has been impressive recently and was praised by Ten Hag for his “perfect” performance against Burnley recently.

Harry Maguire returned at the back to put in a solid performance with the creativity provided in midfield by Mason Mount and Casemiro. Sofyan Amrabat had a full debut to remember, running the game at times from the left-back hybrid role while Anthony Martial up front got himself on the scoresheet in the second half. Diogo Dalot and Raphael Varane made up the right side of the Man United defence. Andre Onana continued his run of starting every game in goal since his arrival.

Amrabat was the match-winner for Man Utd during the midweek win over Crystal Palace despite not getting on the scoresheet. The 27-year-old brought some much-needed control to the middle of the pitch, although it may be questionable to keep him as a left-back moving forward. Injuries to the likes of Michael Olise and Odsonne Edouard are also restricting the freedom which Palace can threaten in forward areas. This was evident in the cup meeting between the sides.

Mount and Casemiro provided a creative spark at times and looked impressive. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford will return here, meaning the threat posed by some of the younger players who started in their place will be missing this weekend. There is a decision to be made here on who to give a start to between Mejbri, Garnacho or Pellistri as they all offer different qualities and deserve a place on the teamsheet after their recent performance.
Injuries to Consider
Sergio Reguilon is the latest to join the ever-growing treatment room, while Lisandro Martinez is set to be out for a significant amount of time due to a foot injury. Antony is available for selection again, but this weekend is likely to come too soon for the Brazil international. This leaves spaces in left-back and out wide on the right, which may be filled by Amrabat and Garnacho, who has seen more first-team minutes than either Mejbri or Pellistri.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are all ruled out of this one. There is a choice between either Victor Lindelof or Maguire alongside Varane, with Rasmus Hojlund expected to lead the line.
