Man Utd Aiming to Offer New Contract to Hannibal Mejbri
Mejbri’s Thoughts on New Contract
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United are looking to offer a new long-term contract to Hannibal Mejbri after being impressed with his bright start to the 2023/24 season. He adds that talks could start soon over a new deal.
The Tunisian midfielder’s current contract is set to expire in 2024, and the Red Devils can extend it to 2025 if they want to. Romano claims that Hannibal is “open to discuss” a new contract later this year, with the youngster currently focused on earning more game-time this season.
Romano also states that Sevilla wanted to sign him during the summer transfer window in July and are still tracking his development at Old Trafford. United appear keen to agree to this new long-term deal to ward off interest from potential suitors.
What Has Mejbri Done This Season?
The 20-year-old midfielder appears to be the latest youth academy graduate to break through into the first team this season and has been enjoying a good run of form after the September international break. He scored his first Premier League goal for the club with an impressive strike in the 3-1 loss to Brighton and also won over fans with his display in their 1-0 win over Burnley.
The youngster appears to have earned Erik ten Hag’s admiration, with the club wanting to reward him with a new long-term deal. Mejbri, who spent last season on loan at Birmingham City, was hailed as “phenomenal” last season.
