‘Wants To Leave’: Fabrizio Romano Names Price Chelsea Must Pay For ‘Remarkable’ Forward

‘Exciting Winger’ Set to Extend Stay at Stamford Bridge - Reward for Impressive Season

Chelsea have had a tough start to the new Premier League season and have scored just five goals in as many league games so far. With the club in desperate need of a quality goalscorer, Fabrizio Romano has now given a possible update on how much they could sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney for.

How Much Will Brentford Ask to Sell Toney in 2024?

Romano has stated that the Blues are well informed on the situation of the English striker, who is currently banned after being found guilty of breaching gambling rules, and that Arsenal are also informed about him. He adds that Toney “wants to leave” his side in 2024 and that is why he recently appointed new agents in the form of the Stellar group to take care of his future transfer.

The journalist states that the race to sign the 27-year-old is still quite open and it is too early to know which club will be signing him. He should have an opportunity to join a big club in 2024, but there’s still uncertainty over whether he will join another club in the January or the summer transfer window, Romano adds.

The transfer insider claims that his move will also depend on which club wants to pay what the Bees want, which is around £50 million-£60 million. He also adds that the Englishman’s transfer situation could be “one to watch” in 2024 after his ban is over and he can start playing football again in England.

How Has Toney Earned His Value?

Before his surprising ban towards the end of last season, Toney was actually one of the best strikers in the Premier League. He scored 20 goals and provided four assists in 33 games for Brentford, helping them compete strongly in the league and stay well away from the relegation battle.

The 27-year-old has scored 32 goals in 68 Premier League games so far in his career and maintained impressive consistency since getting promoted to the division with his side. The Englishman, who was hailed as “remarkable” by manager Thomas Frank last year, is extremely clinical with his finishing and pretty reliable with his link-up play and hold-up play.

He has the traits to thrive at a major Premier League side, but it remains to be seen if Chelsea really make a move for him in 2024.
