Does Liverpool Really Want to Sign Bakayoko?
Romano has reacted to the surprising reports that claimed the Reds are looking into a possible move to sign Bakayoko in the January transfer window. Romano said: “from what I know” Brentford and Burnley made official bids to sign the 20-year-old in the summer transfer window.

The Clarets made a £21.4 million offer for him, while Brentford agreed terms for a £34.3 million deal, but the player rejected their proposal, the journalist states. He adds that there are no new updates on the future of Bakayoko.
Romano clarifies that the Belgian winger is focused on his future at PSV, and “let’s see in the next months” regarding a possible move in the winter transfer window. The Reds were also reported to be interested in signing the 20-year-old in the summer but didn’t go through with a move and do not seem to have any definitive plans to sign him any time soon.

What Has Bakayoko Achieved at PSV?
Bakayoko joined PSV in 2019 from Anderlecht and has been impressive for them since getting promoted to the senior team last year. He was one of their most exciting players during the 2022/23 season, scoring five goals and providing as many assists in only 23 appearances.

The 20-year-old can play on either the right wing or left wing and has been hailed as an “incredible” talent. Despite the links to a summer exit, the Belgian winger has started this season well for the Dutch side, having provided five assists in eight games in all competitions. Liverpool, who signed multiple midfielders in the summer, including a deadline day move for Ryan Gravenberch, didn’t push for a new attacker, and it remains to be seen – if they make a move for Bakayoko anytime soon.
