Liverpool Expected to Sign Ryan Gravenberch as Final Transfer Addition

The report states that Gravenberch has “left Germany for Liverpool by private jet” and is set to complete the medical tests this morning. If the young Dutchman passes, he will likely be the Merseyside club’s final major transfer of the summer window.

At only 21 years of age, Gravenberch is a high-potential signing. A product of Ajax’s famed youth academy, he earned a move to Bayern Munich in 2022. Last season he made appearances in 24 out of 34 Bundesliga matches, but a lack of regular playing time in recent months has frustrated the player.
Why Ryan Gravenberch Is Special
Described as “an incredible and talented midfielder,” the young prospect has been noted for years because of his high potential. His mixture of physical and technical prowess made him dominant in the early years of his career but a lack of regular starting football has resulted in his exit from the Bundesliga champions.

During the 2020/21 campaign, Gravenberch won the Dutch Footballer of the Year and Eredivisie Talent of the Year awards. He would wrap up 2021 by securing the Ajax Talent of the Year.
Has Liverpool’s Summer Been a Success?
The Reds have had a dramatic and complicated summer. Most notably, they lost out to Chelsea for both Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, which deprived them of possible generational players.
Despite these failures, they did manage to sign three exceptional talents for their midfield, which was in desperate need of a rebuild following the outgoings of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Dominik Szoboszlai joined from RB Leipzig, Alexis Mac Allister was purchased from Brighton & Hove Albion, and finally, Wataru Endo joined from VfB Stuttgart.

It will be difficult to assess their transfer window until we’ve seen the results of the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign. However, Gravenberch will add the physical presence needed in the middle of the park, along with a deft touch and passing efficiency that will be vital to Jurgen Kopp’s side.
