Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea have agreed to sell Ian Maatsen to Burnley on the final day of the transfer window. The youngster is the latest name in the long list of players who have departed Stamford Bridge this season.

Maatsen Can Block the Move at the Last Moment
According to Romano, Burnley have reached an agreement with Chelsea for their youngster Maatsen, however, the deal could get complicated at the last moment. The Clarets will pay a transfer fee of £31.5 million to the Blues for the Dutchman. The Stamford Bridge outfit will retain a sell-on clause for the “brilliant” player.

Although there is an agreement in place between the clubs, the player has yet not given his approval for the move. The 21-year-old is reportedly reluctant to leave the London club. He has told Vincent Kompany the reason he is apprehensive towards the move on a personal phone call, according to Nizaar Kinsella.
This could complicate the situation as the transfer deadline is fast approaching. The left-back has played for Chelsea at various youth levels. He played for Burnley in the 2022/23 season, on loan from the 2021 Champions League winners.

Chelsea Transfer Activity Late in the Window
The Premier League giants have been very busy in terms of outgoings on the final day of the summer transfer window. Callum Hudson-Odoi joined Nottingham Forest earlier today and currently, the club’s hierarchy is negotiating the exit of Trevor Chalobah with Bayern Munich. Romelu Lukaku recently left for AS Roma on loan.

In terms of incomings, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have sent an official bid for Corinthians youngster, Gabriel Moscardo. They recently wrapped up the signing of Manchester City youngster Cole Palmer on a £40 million deal, plus add-ons.
