Ongoing Negotiations for Holding
As Luton Town join the competition alongside Spanish clubs Real Mallorca and Sevilla to secure the defender, a call was made to the London club on Monday. Mallorca have now escalated their efforts to determine the conditions that need to be fulfilled for the transfer before the deadline.
Arsenal Pushing for the Exit
Releasing Holding swiftly could prove advantageous for the club, allowing them to explore additional signings before the deadline if required. This step also aligns with Mikel Arteta’s expressed goal of streamlining the squad by offloading several players.
As for Holding, considering his restricted game time, not only this season but also in the previous one, during which he only managed 14 appearances, it would be more favourable for the defender to proceed with the move, even though he still has one year remaining on his contract.
The arrival of Jakub Kiwior during the January window has intensified the competition for Holding. He will also have to contend with Thomas Partey, who is a regular starter for the club, and Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is now fit.
Moreover, the recent acquisition of Jurrien Timber in this window also suggests the possibility of Holding’s departure. Unfortunately, the former Ajax player suffered an ACL injury during the Premier League opening game against Nottingham Forest.

Despite this setback, the club appears to be proceeding with the Holding deal and exploring other options. One reported alternative is Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson, for a fee of £21 million.
