According to Graham Smyth, Leeds United do not have the signing of a left-back on the agenda. This has caused fury amongst fans, with one fan suggesting “You’ve got to be joking” at the idea of the club not completing a signing in this position.

Fans are primarily confused at this newly revealed transfer policy as the Whites’ weakest area of the pitch at the moment is left-back. The club have Junior Firpo, who is injured, followed by a raft of alternative players moving out of their natural position into the role. Amongst these are Sam Byram, who also has a major injury.
Elland Road seeing a left-back through the door would have settled a lot of fan nerves, as the sheer length of the Championship campaign is sure to exacerbate any existing injury issues and lead to weakness throughout the side. Despite recent links to Luke Thomas the youngster signed for Sheffield United instead, with Leeds not linked to any other players in this area of the pitch.

The Whites have a lot more business to complete today and tomorrow, with one of the main areas of improvement being midfield. Both Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev are in Yorkshire for a medical prior to their signings, with Sam Greenwood having recently left the club on a loan deal.
Any other moves that happen around Daniel Farke’s side are almost certain to be reactive. In the event that a player like Luis Sinisterra or Crysencio Summerville is the subject of a big bid, the Elland Road hierarchy are sure to consider getting a replacement player in as to avoid the side becoming too thin for the Championship campaign ahead.
