According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur have been approached by Leeds United for a potential loan transfer for Djed Spence. Having failed to make an impression on Ange Postecoglou, it appears a temporary move down to the second division could be in the cards for the defender.

The Struggles for Djed Spence
The Englishman has had a troubling time since joining from Middlesborough in 2022. Although he had been awarded the Championship Young Player of the Season after helping Nottingham Forest earn promotion, he hasn’t established a starting, or even bench role, since making the move to the Premier League.
Tottenham’s Right Back Situation
To add to Spence’s troubles, Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal are performing well for the Lilywhites, making his quest for consistent minutes that much harder to achieve. If he isn’t shipped out by the time the transfer window closes, it’s likely that the only game-time he would receive would either be in cup games or if either the Spaniard or Brazilian picks up an injury.

A Beneficial Move for Everyone
While it would be unfortunate for fans of the North London club to see another promising player being sent out on loan, all parties could benefit from the deal being completed.
Postecoglou can get rid of an unwanted man in his squad, Daniel Farke acquires someone with plenty of experience in the Championship, and the London-born footballer could get a chance to recover form and show that he’s still valuable.
