Cancelo Ready to Get Deal Over the Line
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Blaugrana have finally agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign their full-back Cancelo on loan for the 2023/24 season. It is stated that the two clubs are now exchanging the necessary documents to make the move official after an agreement was struck between them.

Romano also adds that the Portuguese defender is now “Prepared to travel” to Spain in order to make the deal official. Romano mentions that this will be a loan move but that Barcelona will have the option to buy him on a permanent basis in 2024 if they want. The Catalan giants have been trying to sign the full-back for a considerable time.
What Can Cancelo Bring to Barcelona?
The Blaugrana are set to acquire a versatile defender in Cancelo, who can play as a right-back or left-back if needed. He has even slotted in as a winger and is known for his attacking output, especially his excellent crossing ability.

The 29-year-old has made 154 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring nine goals and providing 22 assists in all competitions. He spent the second half of last season at Bayern Munich and was hailed as “world-class” by ex-Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann. It now appears that the Portugal international will be spending this season at Barcelona, where he’ll be tasked to provide assists to Robert Lewandowski & co, improving their attacking variety through the wings and helping them compete for honours.
