According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United youngster Brandon Williams is now on the verge of joining Ipswich Town. United have been looking to seal a loan deal for the player in order to get him regular playing time and continue his development.

Brandon Williams to Join Ipswich Town on Loan
The Red Devils are advancing in their negotiations to seal the exit of promising full-back Brandon Williams to Ipswich, reports the Italian journalist. It will be a loan deal with an option to buy for the Championship outfit. The 2000-born player was left out of United’s squad for the latest Premier League game. It was a clear indication that the England U21 international is getting close to the Old Trafford exit door.

The transfer market guru wrote on his social media handle: “Negotiations between Ipswich Town and Manchester United for Brandon Williams are advancing. Loan deal to include buy option clause. Williams, in the list of players expected to leave Man United by the end of the window.”

Brandon Williams’ Previous Loan Spell
The United youth academy product spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Norwich, where he played 29 times and impressed with his dynamic displays in the left-back position. The defender is also capable of effectively deputising at right-back. Norwich and Ipswich are arch-rivals, as a result of which the 22-year-old could face hostility from the Canaries’ fans if the potential move is materialised.
United’s Activity in the Transfer Market
The three-time Champions League winners have brought in Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund to bolster their squad in this summer window. According to an earlier update from Romano, the club is not done with their transfer business this summer, the priority remains to bolster their midfield, with Moroccan midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat being the prime target.

As far as potential exits are considered, Donny van de Beek is set to follow Fred and David de Gea away from the Manchester club. Erik ten Hag recently said that he wants only those players at the club who are committed towards the team. According to the transfer market insider it could potentially be an indication towards Van de Beek and Williams.
