Manchester City appears to be closing in on their third signing of the summer transfer window, as Sky Sports have confirmed that they have struck an agreement to sign Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku.

What Will Doku Bring to City?
A product of Anderlecht’s youth academy, the 21-year-old joined Rennes in 2020 from the Belgian side and has earned a reputation for his exceptional ability to take on defenders. PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has also praised his impressive pace on the ball.

Doku, who was hailed as an “exceptional talent” by former Belgium Manager Roberto Martinez, has made 92 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists over that period.
Predominantly a right-winger, he can also play on the left side and, on occasion, has featured as a centre-forward. The 21-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Belgian national team in his career, scoring two goals for the Red Devils.
The 21-year-old’s dribbling ability, finishing and ball retention are some of his biggest strengths. Expect the young prospect to have long spells with the ball, play short passes to link up with teammates and use his trickery and speed to win fouls to ease the pressure on his teammates in difficult moments.
How Much Will City Pay For Doku’s Signing?
Sky Sports has confirmed that Pep Guardiola’s side have reached an agreement for the 21-year-old after offering a package of £55.5 million to his club. He will undergo a medical this week before the deal is confirmed. Personal terms for the player have already been agreed according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The Belgian youngster is expected to be their replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who opted to leave and join Saudi Arabia club Al-Ahli earlier this summer. Doku will be City’s third summer signing, after the successful acquisitions of Croatian duo Matteo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.
While he is still a raw prospect with a lower goals and assists output than you would expect for a Guardiola signing, he has been touted for his “almost limitless potential”.
