According to Sacha Tavolieri, there is a “final announcement for Romeo Lavia incoming”, with the Southampton midfielder seemingly heading to Stamford Bridge to close a “crazy” saga. Chelsea look likely to complete the move shortly after Fabrizio Romano reporting their signing of Moises Caicedo, with the young Englishman celebrating the move in London with friends.

Why Chelsea Need Romeo Lavia
Adding Lavia to Chelsea’s midfield could be a key addition, with the Blues somewhat struggling in midfield against Liverpool. As both sides lacked a defensive midfielder, there was an obvious lack of control across the pitch with neither midfield really grabbing hold of the match. Whilst the Southampton midfielder is relatively young, his tackling is excellent and could give Mauricio Pochettino the presence he needs in the middle of the pitch.

What Makes Lavia the Perfect Signing?
One of the main benefits of the youngster going to Stamford Bridge is the fact he has a lot of potential to grow. Todd Boehly’s recruitment strategy thus far has been to sign younger players that have high ceilings, developing a squad that can compete for trophies for years to come. At the age of just 19, Lavia comfortably fits into this bracket, more than alternative options the club have considered such as Tyler Adams.
What Does the Romeo Lavia Deal Look Like?
Whilst details surrounding the move are currently thin on the ground, there are some pieces of information we can garner from prior reports. Both Liverpool and Chelsea have been considering a move with some outlets reporting bids of around £55 million. A final deal for the midfielder would likely be roughly in this region, with a long contract of at least six years, as is becoming tradition at Chelsea in order to better amortise the cost of players.
