‘Working on a Verbal Agreement’: Manchester United Pushing for ‘Versatile’ Bayern Munich Star

Manchester United Defender Now Expected to Be Out Injured for 10 Weeks as Injury Crisis Worsens - Luke Shaw

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Benjamin Pavard is in talks with Manchester United to leave his current club, Bayern Munich. Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils’ manager, is pushing to sign the “versatile” defender for his side.

Benjamin Pavard Linked With Move to Manchester United

Talks Ongoing Between Both Clubs

In Plettenberg’s announcement, Pavard is linked to United with the talks being labeled as “concrete.” Following that, the tweet goes on to say both clubs and the player are actively working on an agreement that would see the Frenchman move to the Premier League.

The journalist also highlighted that Ten Hag is pushing for Pavard to be at the club. With the player already wanting a move away from the Bundesliga this summer, the chances of a deal remain high, if the two clubs can agree on a fee for the 27-year-old.

Releasing a further update on the move, Plettenberg tweeted that United were leading the race to sign the skilled defender. Talks between the two clubs, which are still ongoing, were described as “positive”.

Bayern are valuing the World Cup winner at nearly £26 million, as their coach Thomas Tuchel would like to see the player stay in Germany another year. His loss could possibly dent the Bavarian team’s hopes of competing against Manchester City in this season’s Champions League.

Local Source Disputes Move

Citing off a notable Bayern reporter, Frank Linkesch, a local German source tweeted that Die Roten expect to retain the services of Pavard for the time being. This is in stark contrast to what Plettenberg and other sources have reported.

Failing to acquire Kyle Walker from City has changed Bayern’s stance on selling Pavard this summer. United will need to bring the exact sum of money that the player is being valued at to nab him. They remain the favorites to get the experienced centre-back, but a move is not guaranteed.
