Ornstein claims that Chelsea have now reached an agreement with their Premier League opponents to sign the Spanish goalkeeper. It’s added that he is set to undergo his medical tests with the London club imminently before being able to complete a move to Stamford Bridge. Fabrizio Romano has also given details of the deal, giving his ‘here we go’ and claiming that the Blues will pay a fee of around £25 million including add-ons for the goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old, who lost his starting place at Brighton last season, was not even included in their USA pre-season tour because the club wanted him off their books despite only paying him rumoured £25k-per-week wages. It’s added that Sanchez has been signed by Chelsea to add more competition for their current no.1, Kepa Arrizabalaga and a replacement for Edouard Mendy, who left in the summer. He will be able to re-join his former Brighton goalkeeper coach Ben Roberts and aim to restart his career at the London side.

What Else Is on Chelsea’s Radar?

Chelsea have been quite proactive in the summer transfer market over the last few weeks, as they’ve roped in midfielder Lesley Ugochukwue from Rennes and are reported to be close to signing French defender Axel Disasi too. They are still reportedly prioritizing the signing of Moises Caicedo and are likely to continue talks with the Seagulls on sealing their priority midfield target.

Sanchez, who was hailed as a ‘monster’ by Graham Potter a few years ago, looks to be their next summer signing. He’s set to leave Brighton after spending his entire professional career contracted with them, having made 90 appearances and kept 29 clean sheets with the Seagulls.
