Argentine Primera Division club Rosario Central have been approached by Tottenham Hotspur to open talks centred on the potential transfer of their young centre-forward, Alejo Veliz. Conversations focused on the player are currently being held between the two clubs.
In his tweet that announced the negotiations, Fabrizio Romano, well-known for breaking huge transfer updates and validating rumours, said that the two sides were yet to reach a deal but “negotiations are concrete.” The next few days will bring an answer on whether or not the promising player will be a Spurs player for this coming season.

Much Potential But Little Known About Alejo Veliz
Teenage Plays For Argentina U20 Team
Not many details about the player are known to the general public. What is known is that Veliz is still a teenager and that Argentina has a great track record of producing star players, even at a young age.

Currently, Veliz has three goals in eight appearances for the Argentina U20 team, including a very important contribution to their World Cup campaign this year. Despite the impressive displays at youth level, he is yet to earn a call-up to the senior side.
Spurs Will Have To Fight Off European Competition
19 goals in 59 matches for Rosario Central is an impressive tally for the youngster. The Argentine club are not on the level of domestic champions River Plate and Boca Juniors, so Veliz’s stellar stats are all the more noteworthy. Noteworthy enough, in fact, to gain the attention of more than just Tottenham.
Nottingham Forest, as well as AC Milan, are both interested in Veliz. Milan may be a better fit to contest Tottenham in a bidding war, but Forest could offer immediate playing time for the youngster, while Tottenham might be more inclined to loan the player out or ease him into Premier League play.

A fee for the player has yet to be confirmed by Rosario. Tottenham will be free to offer as much as they are willing to pay for Veliz, but his current club holds the cards. A waiting game could ensue, but Tottenham are currently the frontrunners to get the Argentine’s signature.
