The deal for Rasmus Hojlund to join Manchester United is on the verge of being finalised and signed per Fabrizio Romano. The player is set to complete his transfer from Atalanta after an agreement was reached between the clubs in the last few days, and he will be at Carrington on Wednesday to finalise the move.

Romano’s latest tweet from Wednesday morning claims that the 20-year-old completed the main section of his medical on Tuesday, but has to return to complete the final part. After this, “the contract will be signed”. This alleviates any concerns that a last-minute hiccup could derail the transfer and virtually confirms that the Red Devils will have their new man in the imminent future.

It has been no secret that the Red Devils were in the market for a new striker this summer.
With no deal complete early in the transfer window, recent pre-season results have made calls for a new front-man all the more deafening. Erik ten Hag has utilised Jadon Sancho in that role on occasion this pre-season with mixed results.

Recent defeats to Borussia Dortmund (3-2) and Real Madrid (2-0) have finally given the hierarchy the wake-up call and the club appears to have finally got their man.
Is Hojlund the Answer?
There is a lot of hype around United’s signing of Hojlund, and this is reflected in the reported transfer fee.
He scored ten goals for Atalanta last season and is the kind of direct striker that the Premier League club are lacking within the current squad. If the deal goes through, it will be the first time the club have had a real focal point up front since the departure of Robin Van Persie.

The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Radamel Falcao and Romelu Lukaku were top players but it did not work out due to various issues. Anthony Martial is currently the only recognised striker in the squad but has been blighted with injury. Martial and Hojlund offer different qualities, so the squad will unquestionably be better off with both of these forwards fit and firing.
Denmark’s Rising Star
If United fans would like to see Hojlund’s quality on full show, his performance for Denmark against Finland in March would be a good place to start.
His attributes were on full display, grabbing a hat trick with three goals that any top-class poacher would have been proud of. His link-up play and running in behind were excellent throughout and his strength in holding off defenders will stand him in good stead in a league that is known as one of the most physical in the world.

Danish media outlet BT was full of praise for their star man after the performance: “It looks like Denmark has got the answer they’ve been looking for for so terribly long. He looks like the new dangerous number nine in the Danish national team! What a game from the giant talent who has taken Serie A by storm – and now he has taken Parken in the same way.”
Harry Kane may have been the dream signing in the transfer window, but Hojlund looks every bit worthy of the Manchester United number nine role.
