Moises Caicedo

Fabrizio Romano has given the latest update on Chelsea’s pursuit to sign two Premier League players after sealing the acquisition of French midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes. In his latest video, Romano says: “from what I understand, it is two separate deals but there is a chance to agree a total package” in regards to the Blues landing Brighton duo, Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez.

What Are Chelsea’s Plans for Caicedo and Sanchez?

The Blues seem to be intent on signing even more players from Brighton after roping in Marc Cucurella from them last season, which led to really mixed results. They were reported to have made a bid to sign goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and have also had their rumoured latest £80 million bid for Moises Caicedo rejected.

In his latest video, Romano confirms that the London side are currently holding negotiations with the Seagulls for the acquisition of the two above-mentioned players. He clarifies that the discussions currently are over two separate deals and aren’t part of the same negotiation. However, there is a chance that they come together to involve both players eventually.

It’s stated that Chelsea are still pushing to sign both the Brighton players after being impressed with their work over the last few years. Romano states that they have been tracking Caicedo for a long time and also know that not only does the Spanish goalkeeper wants to move, but that Roberto De Zerbi’s side wants to sell him.

How Much Could Chelsea Need to Pay for Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez?

Todd Boehly appears to be a major admirer of the Brighton project and has raided them multiple times over the last year, even roping in Graham Potter (who was sacked months later) and their head of recruitment Paul Winstanley, who is currently in their recruitment team. It now appears that the Blues will keep pushing to sign the two players from the Seagulls.

There is a strong chance that they need to pay big money to get the deal done. Caicedo is reportedly being priced at £100 million, while De Zerbi’s side is also reported to rate their goalkeeper at around £30 million. Both players played key roles in helping their side finish sixth in the Premier League last season and could add more firepower to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad if the London giants can get a deal done.
