Future Plans: Mauricio Pochettino’s Comments
New manager Pochettino has commented on the latest midfield signing. The Argentine suggested that the player is not in his immediate plans and is set to go out on loan. The former Tottenham boss said in an interview that he needs experience in the middle of the park. The departure of veteran midfielders like N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic has left the two-time Champions League winners short of options in midfield, with Conor Gallagher being their most experienced player. The 51-year-old manager doesn’t see the new signing, Ugochukwu as the solution to the Stamford Bridge side’s midfield issues.
Romano reported that French club, Strasbourg are in pole position to rope in the new Chelsea man on loan. The final decision will rest with the board and Pochettino. The French club is the only possible destination for the teenage midfielder as of now. The France U-19 international might not be in the immediate plans for the 2021 Champions League winners, but a positive loan spell could carve a path for him into the Premier League giants’ first team in the coming years.
