Manchester United Target ‘Keen on Move’ Following Huge Deal for Rasmus Holjund

Manchester United- Antony Faces Extended Leave of Absence

Manchester United are prioritising a move for Sofyan Amrabat, who is ‘keen on the move’, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano. This follows the club completing a £60 million move for top target Rasmus Holjund from Atalanta.

Manchester United to Start Negotiations for Sofyan Amrabat after Holjund Transfer

Amrabat ‘Keen on Move’ to Old Trafford

Fabrizio Romano claims that Amrabat has been well informed on Manchester United’s plan to purchase the midfielder and favours a transfer to the Premier League club. Fans of the club will desperately hope that a new central midfielder could give a balance to the side that will enable them to be truly competitive

The Fiorentina midfielder is now the main target for the Red Devils, following an impressive season for his club and country. The Morrocan starred as his national side shocked the world by reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, losing 2-0 to a France side that were constantly tested by the African team.

He then went on to play a key role in Fiorentina’s run to the Europa Conference League Final and was arguably the Italian side’s most impressive player in a 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

Can Amrabat Complete Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United?

Erik ten Hag’s side have long needed a dependable central midfielder with both defensive capabilities and a strong passing range. Their previous attempts to fill this gap, such as with Fred, have not worked out. But Amrabat could be the key to transforming Manchester United’s midfield. Amrabat is often acclaimed for his defensive work and was praised by fans as being ‘everywhere’ on the pitch during the 2022 World Cup.

He uses his strength and stamina to consistently break up opposition attacks. However, whilst it would be easy to pigeonhole the player for his physical and defensive attributes, a vital aspect of his play for Ten Hag will be his passing. The 26-year-old boasts an 88.8% pass completion rate, which places him amongst the most elite midfielders in Europe, with only a small group of players, such as Rodri, rating higher.

He has demonstrated an exceptional ability to complete passes over short, medium, and long ranges, which will help Manchester United retain possession and control the tempo of the match. Against deeper lying defences, he can play tidy progressive passes, but against higher lines, he will be comfortable in using his vision and technical ability to launch counterattacks with incisive passing across any range.

If Amrabat Joins Manchester United, Could Van De Beek or Fred Leave?

If Amrabat joins the club, Fred or Donny Van De Beek would be unlikely to play significant minutes and would be poised to leave the club. According to a YouTube video from Fabrizio Romano, it seems that both players could be on the way out of Manchester to fund the Amrabat transfer. It is still unclear what fee would be required to buy the Fiorentina midfielder, but the Red Devils will seek to shift both midfielders to raise money for the transfer.

Romano reports that Real Sociedad are favourites to sign the Dutch midfielder, whilst his Brazilian teammate has been rejected by Lazio but has interest from Galatasaray and some Saudi clubs. If the red side of Manchester can sell their players that have become surplus to requirements, it will ease any financial challenges of signing the Moroccan star.

Amrabat’s arrival could help to establish a consistent midfield at Manchester United and perhaps they will finally be primed to challenge their rivals and test Pep Guardiola’s dominant Manchester City side.
