Manchester United’s Journey to Rasmus Hojlund Signing Explained
What Did Erik Ten Hag Do to Push for Hojlund?
It has already been reported that the Red Devils have struck an agreement with the Serie A club and will be paying a fee of £64 million, plus £8 million in add-ons that could take the deal to £72 million if all performance-related clauses are met.

Romano has now provided details of what happened behind the scenes for this deal to be done. The Italian journalist stated that Erik ten Hag personally played a huge role in convincing the young Danish striker, holding “direct calls” with the player on more than three separate occasions. During those conversations, he explained his plans for the 20-year-old’s development and what he wants from him at Old Trafford.
The report goes on to say that Ten Hag “loves” Hojlund and sees him as the “perfect modern striker”. Romano also claims that the 20-year-old hired the services of the SEG agency on a three-month trial period. The agency based in the Netherlands was tasked with delivering the Danish international with a move to United or he’d take his talents elsewhere.
What Is Next for United?
The Old Trafford club have been having an eventful transfer window despite uncertainty over their ownership situation. However, they seem to be set to bring in the Atalanta striker as their third summer signing after Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

United should now be able to turn their attention to other signings with Sofyan Amrabat next on the club’s list. They are reported to have already agreed personal terms with the Fiorentina midfielder and may well push for his signing soon.
However, for now, they are focused on securing the services of Hojlund, who was hailed as a “fantastic guy” by fellow Danish international and United midfielder Christian Eriksen earlier this year.
