It is well-known that Manchester United are searching for a new world-class striker in this transfer window to take the club to the next level and compete for the Premier League title. The Guardian report that a significant breakthrough may have been made in this search, with a major obstacle having been removed for the club who could now land their number one target, Harry Kane.

Striker Issues Continue to Hinder Growth
United made massive strides last season and regained a Champions League place with a third-place finish.
However, the race at the top of the table and for the top four places looks as though it will become more competitive next year, with many top sides improving dramatically over the summer.
Liverpool are rebuilding their midfield, Arsenal have added top talents to an impressive team, Chelsea now have a new and exciting manager, and Newcastle have signed a world-class talent in Tonali.
Anthony Martial is the only recognized striker in the United squad and has failed to hold down that spot due to a lack of form and injuries. This is an area that needs to be addressed.

Martial has enough talent to develop into a top-class forward, but cannot seem to stay fit for a prolonged period. Teammate Marcus Rashford was impressive in the nine role last season but is best used as a left winger.
The signing of Andre Onana has solved the goalkeeper conundrum, now is the time for Erik ten Hag to find the last piece of the jigsaw for his side.
Man United Could Revive Interest in Harry Kane
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
The Denmark international is just 20 years old and signed for the Italian club last summer, but had an impressive debut campaign in Serie A, scoring nine league goals in his first season.
However, there may be a better option available to United this summer.
The club may revive their interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane as the Guardian is reporting that Tottenham owner Joe Lewis will overrule Daniel Levy and sell the “monster” striker if he does not agree to a new deal this summer.
The report states a potential £100 million fee would not be a problem, however, Kane’s salary demands may prove a stumbling block.

This story carries some weight, as Tottenham’s record goalscorer could command a significant fee in the next couple of months, as opposed to leaving on a free next summer.
The striker has received wide acclaim for his exploits last season, scoring 30 Premier League goals in a struggling side.
Bayern Munich are likely the front runners, having submitted at least one unsuccessful bid this summer. However, a move to Old Trafford may appeal to Kane as it would allow him to chase down Alan Shearer’s Premier League-leading goalscorer record.
Judging by his record over the last two seasons, Kane may break this record in the next two. At United, he may be more likely to win silverware, which his talent deserves.
Harry Kane or Rasmus Hojlund for Manchester United?
If both are available, Kane would likely be the number one transfer target for United in their search for a new striker.
He is likely going to go down as the best striker in Premier League history, and it seems a no-brainer that if he is available, any fee or wage demands would pay themselves back twofold if a period of success follows.
Hojlund may be a good option if the move for Kane does not materialise, but the Tottenham striker, who will turn 30 before the season begins, would catapult the Red Devils into contention for major honours.
