Chelsea Eyeing Possible Gabri Veiga Move

Chelsea’s Stance on Veiga Revealed

The Blues are aiming to improve their midfield line after selling players like Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic. The 21-year-old Spaniard was one of the breakthrough stars of La Liga in the 2022/23 season and is reported to be attracting the interest of clubs like Man City and Liverpool alongside the Blues over a possible transfer.

Romano gave a short update on Chelsea’s stance on signing him, as he said: “We know he has a release clause of around £40 million, but clubs think they can get a deal done for cheaper. We know Chelsea are well informed on Veiga. Let’s see if they will bid, but for sure he is one of the players they’re considering. Not only Chelsea, but they are watching.”

Veiga is a versatile midfielder who can play anywhere across the midfield line but thrives in a more advanced position. He is a prolific, hard-working midfielder with plenty of tricks up his sleeve and scored 11 goals in 36 La Liga appearances for Celta last season.

How Can Veiga Fit In at Chelsea?

The Spanish midfielder, hailed as “excellent” by Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti last season, mostly played a no.10 role for Celta last season but can also impress as a no.8 if necessary. That means he can be a versatile addition to Chelsea and play various roles for Pochettino if necessary.

Veiga is yet to make his debut for the Spanish national team but has made nine appearances for the Spain U-21 side. His heroics for Celta last season are why he is attracting attention from major European clubs and why the Blues are considering a move for him. Chelsea are reportedly also looking to complete a move to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
