Chelsea now seem to be delving into the French market and Romano states that an agreement is getting closer between them and Montpellier over the sale of Wahi. It’s added that the Premier League side have scheduled a new round of talks with the Ligue 1 club in an attempt to find total agreement over the signing.

Romano also claims that Mauricio Pochettino’s team has decided that they will be sending the 20-year-old striker on loan for the 2023/24 season to ensure that he gets regular playing minutes somewhere else. It is added that Chelsea are aware of potential competition for the Frenchman and that has promoted wanting to accelerate talks quickly to ensure nobody else can sign him.

Chelsea Plans for the Rest of This Transfer Window

The Blues have been relatively quiet in the summer transfer window after the kind of money they spent back in January. They have focused on selling a lot of players in the summer and are now looking into new signings. It has been reported that they are interested in a move for Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus and they are also negotiating a deal to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

But Chelsea appears to be looking for a long-term option to spearhead their attack in Wahi. The 20-year-old has been described as a ‘clinical’ striker thanks to his finishing ability and already has 32 goals in 84 Ligue appearances at a young age. The Frenchman was among the most prolific forwards in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 19 goals and providing six assists, which seemingly attracted the Premier League side’s interest. It remains to be seen if they can get a deal over the line before other clubs target him.
