Manchester United and Erik ten Hag Close to Another Summer Signing
How United Could Line Up Next Season Under Ten Hag
Last Word on Football have put together a prediction of how United are most likely to line up next season, including some truly fantastic signings.
United Close to Signing Andre Onana
Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana will be travelling to Manchester on “Sunday or Monday” to complete his move to Manchester United, confirms Gazzetta dello Sport. The Cameroon international appears to be set to become their second summer signing after the acquisition of Mason Mount from Chelsea. The Red Devils have been chasing a new goalkeeper ever since they confirmed the departure of David de Gea, who left as a free agent following his 12-year spell as the club’s no.1.

Gazzetta adds that the Dutch gaffer personally called up the Inter star to inform him that the deal will be completed in “record time”. He is claimed to have given him the green light to prepare for a move to Manchester, after which he’ll undergo his medicals and put pen to paper over his contract.
It is also stated that a deal between the two European clubs is now “practically concluded” at this point in time and there is a minute difference in their valuation of Onana. The Red Devils will agree to pay the rumoured £47 million that the Italian side wants for the 27-year-old who is also said to have already agreed personal terms with the Premier League heavyweights.
What Will Onana Bring to United?
The Manchester side will be playing with a brand new goalkeeper for the first time in over a decade in the upcoming 2023/24 campaign and pressure will be on Onana to prove his value, provided he can complete the transfer. However, the “monster” Cameroonian international is coming to Old Trafford with knowledge of how to thrive under Ten Hag after having won titles under him at Ajax.

Onana had an excellent 2022/23 season with Inter, playing a key role in helping them make it to the final of the UEFA Champions League. He kept eight clean sheets in the European tournament and frustrated Manchester City with his shot-stopping heroics and impressive distribution in the final. The 27-year-old is known for his passing ability, resistance to pressing and tendency to often come out of his goal to avert trouble. He has the traits of a modern goalkeeper and can help United take their passing game to the next level upon assuming their goalkeeper’s spot.
