Manchester United are set to continue talks with Everton for the transfer of Anthony Elanga, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Red Devils are looking to sell the 21-year-old after he fell out of favour for Erik ten Hag’s side last season.

Everton Pushing to Sign Elanga

The Swedish winger got his major breakthrough at Old Trafford under Ralf Rangnick in the 2021/22 season and even scored against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16 in that campaign. However, he got reduced to the role of a bench-warmer last ter and only started seven games for his side – in which he failed to score a single goal.

Romano claims that many clubs are interested in the 21-year-old, but Everton are showing genuine interest. It’s added that the Toffees have already made their interest known to the Red Devils over a move and that they will now hold direct talks over the transfer.

It has been reported that the Manchester side are ready to sell Elanga for just around £10 million as they aim to generate some extra revenue to boost their own summer transfer budget, after having only signed Mason Mount so far.

What Can Elanga Bring to Everton?

Even though he seems to have fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, the Sweden international seems to be rated by quite a few clubs – as it has been stated by Romano. The 21-year-old is quite a versatile forward who has played all across the frontline for the Red Devils in his career, including both the wings and even as a centre-forward.

Elanga – who is rumoured to be earning wages of just around £5,000-a-week at Old Trafford – is a quick forward who is blessed with an impressive pace and the ability to outrun defenders. He tends to get into smart positions with his off-the-ball runs and is a tidy, disciplined player with his link-up play too.

The youngster was hailed as a ‘great talent‘ by Zlatan Ibrahimovic last year and comes with decent experience too, having scored four goals and provided as many assists in 55 career appearances for United. The Swede can probably add more explosiveness to Everton’s attack and be a solid alternative for Alex Iwobi, giving Sean Dyche the chance to rotate his frontline if he can sign Elanga.
