‘Potential Option’: Chelsea To Pursue Argentine Forward With £188.9M Transfer Boost

Stamford Bridge - Welcome to Chelsea - Djordje Petrovic

Mauricio Pochettino is looking to add ‘experience’ to his Chelsea front line and Argentine forward Paulo Dybala has emerged as a ‘potential option’ according to The Indepenent’s Miguel Delaney.

Meanwhile Football.London have reported that Chelsea have a cash injection of around £188.9m from selling players in this transfer window.

World Cup Winner Paulo Dybala Emerges as Chelsea Target

Paulo Dybala One of Two Serie A Strikers Considered by Chelsea

Chelsea’s new manager Pochettino is keen to add some experience to his attacking line-up with Roma’s Dybala and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic being considered by the club.

The report from The Independent suggests that Pochettino has held talks with the West London’s club’s hierarchy, who are ‘sympathetic’ to his demand for players with more experience in attack, despite having a recruitment process based on bringing in young players.

With the future of Romelu Lukaku set to be decided this week, the final destination of the Belgian striker could well have an effect on who Chelsea opt for out of Dybala and Vlahovic.

Pochettino came close to signing Dybala during his time at Tottenham but the move fell through in the final stages, with various reasons quoted as to why the player could not leave Juventus.

Now at Roma, under former Spurs and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, Dybala could be available for just £10.6 million due to a clause in his contract that allows non-Italian clubs to snap up the World Cup winner at a cut price.

However, Juventus have shown an interest in signing Lukaku with discussions between the two clubs having taken place and the Independent’s report claims that could ‘smooth any potential talks’ for Vlahovic.

Danny Murphy has voiced his concerns over Chelsea’s transfer focus. “Depending on Financial Fair Play, I think Chelsea want to be prioritising other positions.”

Pochettino Confident of Adding More Quality to Chelsea Squad

Pochettino made it clear in his first press conference as Chelsea’s new head coach that there will be more quality added to the squad during the transfer window and that those players who do come in need to understand what it is to play for Chelsea.

He said: “We need to bring players in that believe from day one that it is all about winning, being competitive and giving our best. We are already working really hard and then we need to translate this energy to our fans to create a togetherness.

‘What I found from day one, the squad is not all the squad yet, but the players were very open and the attitude was opening. We are going to add more quality.”

Both Dybala or Vlahovic would certainly fit that mould and improve Chelsea’s attack, and compliment new signings Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku who both arrived earlier in the transfer window.
