Declan Rice is expected to undergo a medical prior to joining Arsenal this week.

Rice Set for Arsenal Medicals

The Gunners came just about short in the Premier League title race last season after giving a tough fight to Manchester City. Manager Mikel Arteta appears to be strengthening his squad with world-class talent to aim for another title charge next season.

Romano adds that Rice will become Arsenal’s most expensive signing in history with a fee of £100 million plus £5 million in add-ons. It’s added that Arteta and sporting director Edu were both crucial to get the deal over the line. In fact, Romano claims that the Spanish gaffer actually started pushing his club to sign him from January and did an ‘incredible job’ behind the scenes to ensure it got over the line.

It is also added that the English midfielder will be undergoing his medicals with the North London giants later this week. The medicals could take place on Friday, with the 24-year-old keen on joining his new teammates soon for the start of pre-season.

What Will Rice Bring to Arsenal?

The West Ham star had an amazing campaign with the Hammers in the 22/23 season and played a pivotal role in helping them win their first trophy of this century, guiding them to the UEFA Europa Conference League success and capping off a brilliant end to his career with his childhood club.

Rice has earned himself an impressive reputation in recent years for being the ‘complete’ midfielder, who excels in a deeper role. He is brilliant in winning possession in midfield, driving the ball forward and is very versatile too – even being able to slot in as a centre-back. The 24-year-old was hailed as ‘incomparable’ by ex-Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino last year and has been able to win over many fans with his quality. He made 245 appearances for the Irons in his career, scoring 13 goals and providing 15 assists – but now appears to be set to venture on a different journey at Arsenal and help them compete for top honours going forward.
