Chelsea could be closing in on an interesting signing as they prepare to make a move for Matheus Franca, according to Fabrizio Romano on YouTube (via Chels_HQ)
Club insider Felix Johnston is reporting that the Blues see the player as “1st team” ready rather than another loan. According to Johnston, it is expected that the Brazilian teen will occupy a central role behind the striker and occasionally set out as a right winger.

Too Much Depth?
Johnston’s report is certain to raise the eyebrows of some Blues fans. It will be difficult for Franca to carve out much of a spot in the lineup with so many other attackers already at the disposal of the new head coach. That said, for a fee as low as £17 million it is a punt worth taking for a team with major issues that need to be addressed, namely a defensive midfielder to replace N’Golo Kante and another goalkeeper.
With more deals still to be done, this could be a solid piece of business from Todd Boehly and Co. when all is said and done.
