The saga surrounding the future of Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain appears to be alive once again. Journalist Ben Jacobs has also reported on the tense situation, explaining that if the French international does not sign a new deal at PSG this summer, then the club will look to sell him in this transfer window. The update from Jacobs mentions that Real Madrid would prefer to take the player on a free transfer in 2024 rather than paying a fee in this transfer window.

In an additional update from Jacobs, he mentions that the French champions are furious that the letter from Mbappe was leaked to the media, and if no words were exchanged, the one-year extension would have been invalid on August 1. In the thread from Jacobs, it mentions Paris Saint – Germain feel many of their actions have been framed around Mbappe, and the club are adamant they wouldn’t have acted in this manner if they knew all along he would definitely leave in 2024.

Mbappe was previously described by PSG manager Christophe Galtier – as “the best attacker in the world.” This praise will seemingly ensure clubs will be watching how this tense situation develops. The update mentioned earlier from Romano suggests PSG have no intention of letting the attacker leave for free. He also mentions how tense the situation is, between the player and club. The Qatari’s Sheikh Jassim Group who are hoping to take over Manchester United, have reportedly identified Mbappe as one of their transfer targets. If their takeover is successful it will be interesting to see if they proceed with a move for the French attacker, which would announce their arrival in the Premier League.

Mbappe has released a statement as mentioned earlier, regarding his future. “I have never discussed any contract renewal with PSG”. “The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them.” This statement from the Frenchman seems to suggest that the French club have been fully aware of the attacker’s intentions to leave. However, it remains to be seen where Mbappe will line up next season.
