Fabrizio Romano has reported that Jude Bellingham is at the “final step” of negotiations over a move to Real Madrid with the Spanish side set to part with £86 million for the midfielder.
This is a blow to Liverpool who had previously reported interest in the player as they aim to revamp their midfield after a poor season that saw them miss out on Champions League football with many pointing the finger of blame at their ageing midfield.

Changes Needed
Given the style of play that Jurgen Klopp tends to utilise, he asks a lot of his midfielders. They are expected to take part in a heavy-pressing system where they either win the ball back high or stifle the offence and get forward quickly when possession is won.

Taking that into account it is somewhat alarming that 32-year-old Jordan Henderson and 37-year-old James Milner were two of the most familiar faces on the Reds’ team sheet in this past campaign. A young midfielder like Bellingham would provide fresh legs and renewed energy compared to the wearied legs of the veterans.
Real Madrid Win The Race
It is well known that Los Blancos have money to burn, they also appear to have a strong project in place with a young core of talent being brought in to replace ageing stars like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Having already picked up Aurelien Tchouameni last summer, they can now add another prized youngster to their squad.

With the Spanish side likely dipping back into the market for a striker this summer, they will be happy to get the signing of the 19-year-old Englishman completed as quickly as possible.
