Manchester United midfielder Fred has emerged as a summer transfer target for Premier League side Fulham, claims the Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Luckhurst. This comes after the Brazilian produced a brilliant performance in his side’s 2-1 win over the Cottagers in their final league game of the season, playing a part in both of his side’s goals.

Luckhurst adds that the Red Devils are now considering a possible summer transfer for Fred; selling him would free up space in their squad and make transfer funds available too. It’s added that certain intermediaries have given a proposal to the Red Devils to sell the 30-year-old midfielder to Fulham and recruit a younger replacement.
Fulham shares a solid working relationship with the Red Devils, having signed Andreas Pereira from them last summer on a permanent deal. Fred, who joined the Red Devils in 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk, has just one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
Who Was Fred Seen Talking To After Fulham Win?
Incidentally, these rumors are starting to pop up the day after Fred, who is reported to earn £120,000 per week, was seen talking to Fulham manager Marco Silva outside Old Trafford after the game. According to Talksport journalist Alex Crook, eyewitnesses saw Silva rushing off the Fulham bus to catch and have a conversation with Fred before he left the premises.

This certainly appears to be the doings of a manager who is keen on adding the Brazilian midfielder to his squad after witnessing his impressive display against his team recently. Fred has fallen down the pecking order at United this season, only starting 12 Premier League games and seeing summer signing Christian Eriksen take his place as a regular. The 30-year-old – who was hailed as an ‘extremely valuable’ player at Old Trafford by interim manager Ralf Rangnick last year – has made 212 appearances for the Red Devils in his career – scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists.
