According to a report from Simon Mullock at The Mirror, Erik ten Hags’ summer transfer plans have been paralysed due to the protracted sale of the club. It appears the Glazers are looking to make as much money from the sale, which has ensured the sale process is now into its sixth month, making Ten Hag’s summer plans uncertain.

Protracted Sale Paralyses Manchester United Summer Plans
The report from Mullock states Old Trafford boss Ten Hag is being kept in the dark over the future ownership of the club. The protracted sale has paralysed the Dutchman’s summer transfer plans, as he is unsure of his summer budget. Despite the club qualifying for the Champions League, which will bring in significant money – it’s unclear how much will be given to Ten Hag for his rebuilding plans.

The Mirror report states the Glazers are trying to get as much money from the sale of the club as possible. It appears the American owners have demanded £6 billion to walk away, which has so far proved to be too rich for both Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim. The high asking price has seemingly held up the sale process, and it remains unclear if rumoured buyers Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Than are prepared the meet the asking price for the club.

Reports have recently surfaced that Ratcliffe appears to be the leading candidate. A potential third option is still seemingly on the table, which would involve the Glazers bringing in outside investment to help finance the rebuild of Old Trafford. This option would ensure the Glazers remain in control – but due to repayments, it would seemingly hurt any potential transfer budget for Ten Hag.
Uncertain Summer Ahead for Ten Hag
Earlier this month, Ten Hag was asked whether he’d been told his budget for the summer. “No, I don’t influence that,” the Dutchman confirmed. “It’s clear what I want but it’s not up to me. It’s about others in this club. The family are the owners, they make the decisions. Where I can make my influence I will do, so I’m focusing on improving the squad, and the team development. I have to make sure the team is progressing.”
Manchester United will be looking to close the gap on Manchester City next season while competing in the Champions League. It’s undoubtedly a vital summer for the red half of Manchester, and the sale of the club will affect any plans Ten Hag has to continue his Old Trafford revolution.
