Chelsea target Manuel Ugarte is set to hold a new round of talks with Sporting CP over his future at the club, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Uruguayan midfielder is reportedly in the midst of a transfer battle between the Blues and PSG after enjoying an impressive season, while Liverpool are also reportedly interested.

Chelsea Ready to Add Players to Ugarte Deal
Even though they’re yet to announce a successor to Graham Potter, Chelsea’s new boss has now reportedly signed his contract with the club, and work is being put in behind the scenes over new signings.

Romano states in his report that Ugarte has not yet made a final decision on his future at the Portuguese side. He will hold talks with the club over that in the next few days amid heavy interest from European elites. Both Chelsea and PSG have made it clear that they’re ready to pay his £51 million release clause, albeit in a part-payments scheme. Romano also adds that the Blues are ready to add players to the deal in exchange for the Uruguayan midfielder’s services.
Liverpool Also in for Ugarte
Even though Chelsea and PSG appear to be ready to quickly make a move for Ugarte, they aren’t the only ones in the race to sign him. Liverpool have also been reported to be vying for his signing as they aim to significantly strengthen their midfield in the summer after releasing a number of players.

Ugarte has been described as a ‘complete midfielder’ in the past and is known for being an aggressive, energetic figure in midfield who excels in winning back possession in key areas and adding more steel to the middle. The 23-year-old has made 85 appearances in his career for Sporting, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
